Gilroy Scuba's Open Water Scuba Certification instruction can best be described by what it's not.  First, it's not a Resort certification.  You may have enjoyed one of those abbreviated sessions while on vacation but realize there is much more to diving than what those give you.  Gilroy Scuba's course is not a mass-merchandise, cram-as-many-people-as-you-can-in class.  Expect attention to your needs.  It's not a six month college course of boring lectures nor a crash course (although we can do a Private Express or Semi-Private relatively quickly).   Finally, the certification agency we instruct through is the largest and most well known - PADI  (Professional Association of Dive Instructors).

Gilroy Scuba's goal is to produce confident and skilled divers that can enjoy the unique and fantastic underwater world of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary - or anywhere you desire to explore.

Private Express Class - Start Today!

This course is designed for the person that needs their certification quickly or wants a totally private class.  The Private Express course can be finished much faster than our other classes, saving you valuable time and giving you one-on-one attention from the Instructor.   There is no classroom time involved.  You will take your text book or CD home and do most of your studying at your leisure and convenience.  Then you will get together with the Instructor to review the information and start your pool and ocean training.

Semi-Private -  Start Today!
Our most popular class, this can be for yourself or a small group (5 or less) for an Instructor Fee of $399  (See Special Offer!) for one person or $50 less for each additional person in the class.  Call today- we may have a student or two that you can join in with!  In addition to this reasonably priced instruction, the class can be finished much faster than the group class, saving you valuable time.   There is no classroom time involved.  You will take your text book or CD home and do most of your studying at your leisure and convenience.  Then you will get together with the Instructor to review the information and start your pool and ocean training.  The above prices do not include Student Text Package, Rental Equipment, or other required equipment.  (Ask about early registration discount!)

*Your certification dives involve 4 ocean dives over two days.  For an additional $35/day you have the option of doing your ocean dives from our 35' dive boat Sanctuary  rather than from shore.  Advantages are that it is much easier physically, more and better choices of where we dive, hot water shower on board for warming up before, after and in between dives, and more!

EQUIPMENT

A Scuba Rental Package (includes wetsuit, hood, buoyancy vest, tank, regulator, weight belt & weights, gear bag) can be rented from Gilroy Scuba for the entire class including the two days at the ocean.  This package does not include mask, snorkel, fins, boots and gloves.   Gilroy Scuba carries those items for sale if students do not have any or all of those items.  (See rental information)

HOW DO YOU GET STARTED?

Start today by registering for your class of choice and picking up the text package and DVD.  If you will need to rent or purchase any gear, that can be done at your convenience (make an appointment to be fitted for rental equipment please).
